AdminPaulhInternational Linear Collider – “The next machine to look deeper into the atom”There’s a lot of controversy over whether or not to invest large amounts of money into these major science projects. There’s no guarantee of return on investment but it’s the opinion of this site that these projects are very valuable and worthwhile. Friday, August 20, 2010

BlueCoronaThe next machineI’m still hugely disappointed that they canceled and abandoned the Superconducting Super Collider in Texas, US. It would have been a higher energy machine than the LHC. On the positive side, the ILC will have more advanced technology and build on what’s learned with the LHC. Saturday, August 21, 2010

JRobertsInternational Linear ColliderIf it was just a matter of scientists satisfying their curiosity it wouldn’t be worth it IMO. I understand the price tag is somewhere between $6 – $10 billion. If you look at the jobs created, and the medical and material science that will benefit, I think it becomes worth doing. There are gambling casinos now that cost $2 billion so I don’t think $6 billion is outrageous. Friday, August 20, 2010
